Volunteer at the Grange Insurance Audubon Centers
Grange Insurance has a variety of opportunities for volunteers ages 16 and up. The volunteer roles and opportunities are listed on this webpage. The roles offer flexibility with your schedule and provide choices matched with your interests. As a volunteer, you can expect:

Volunteer Information Center
Volunteer Application (pdf) VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Special Events Volunteer
Time: Monthly – Special Events usually held in the evenings or on the weekends.
Description: Volunteers will perform various activities to support GIAC Special Events i.e. Wine and Warblers, Trick or Tweet, Green Student, Holiday Shop Around, Bluegrass, Bee and Birds, etc. Choose from a variety of support activities such as planning, mailings, setting up and hosting. Other help needed might be conducting games and activities, serving food, cleaning and general needs for the event.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to enjoy working with the public. Ability to move furniture, manage money, work well with planning team and perform other fun and various activities.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Familiarity with volunteer events and functions. Comfortable working with all age groups and displays a positive attitude.
Classroom Support
Time: 4 hours a week on Saturday or Sunday
Description: Volunteers will lead visitors through activities such as art activities, exhibit prompts, feeder watch, etc. Training will be provided as needed.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to accurately follow instructions. Be comfortable leading activities with a variety of age groups. Must be personable.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Bird Conservation
Time: 4 hours a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday
Description: Volunteers will be responsible for gathering point count information, updating data base, assisting in bird banding and/or nest box data collection and care. Training/mentoring will be provided as needed.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to accurately follow instructions. Be comfortable outside.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Birding experience is preferred but not required.
GIAC Gardener & Grounds Keeper
Time: 4 hours a week during seasonal weather conditions
Description: Volunteers will maintain bird feeders, maintain grounds, prep for plantings, weed, remove honeysuckle and other invasive plants, maintain composting station, and collect habitat data.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to accurately follow instructions. Be comfortable outside.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Gardening experience is preferred but not required.
Nature Store Attendant
Time: 4 hours a week
Description: Volunteers will work in gift shop, sell, stock, and price merchandise and maintain inventory.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to accurately follow instructions. Be comfortable following national cash handling policies.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Sales experience is preferred but not required.
Greeter
Time: 4 hours a week
Description: Volunteers will greet visitors to the Center, answer questions, answer the phone, give directions, distribute program and rental information, work with Manager on Duty to create a safe and secure environment for guests.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to accurately follow instructions. Be comfortable speaking with people.
Requirements: Minimum age is 18 years old. Customer service experience is preferred but not required.
